Free access for Copeland residents

Calling all Copeland residents – you can now experience Whitehaven’s fantastic Museum for free every Thursday in August!

Simply provide proof of your address (i.e. utility bill or ID) with no booking required.

Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.

Entry includes access to:

  • the current Harbour Gallery
  • Photographic exhibition
  • Rediscover Copeland – a trip around Copeland in the 1950s and 60s through the work of local photographer, Ivor Nicholas
  • Also the touring exhibition, Medieval Medicine, brought to you by The JORVIK Group.

Planning your visit

The Beacon Museum is still working to keep staff, visitors, and the community safe.

Although booking is not required, staff might need to manage the number of visitors in the Museum as our free Thursdays are proving to be extremely popular with the locals!

If you’d prefer a leisurely experience then we suggest you visit on an alternate day.

All our staff continue to wear face coverings and the Museum recommends and expects that visitors do the same, unless they are medically exempt.

We are currently closed, but open again tomorrow at 10:00
