THE BEACON Museum will host two exciting new exhibitions from February 5.

Ian Andrews – The Sketchbook and the Collider draws fascinating links between fine art and particle physics.

It will run alongside Cumbria Thro’ The Lens, a collection of interesting and beautiful photographs captured by Copeland Photographic Society and Workington Camera Club.

The Sketchbook and the Collider is a collaborative exhibition in which artist Ian Andrews and physicist Prof Kostas Nikolopoulos visualise particles as they transform, annihilate and decay.

The exhibition Includes a 17-metre long drawing made especially for the Beacon Museum and inspired by linear accelerators used in particle detection.

The multi-media event runs until April 24, and you can find out more about the project here: https://www.thesketchbookandthecollider.com/.

There will be various events connected to the Ian Andrews exhibition – look out on The Beacon Museum’s social media channels for more information.

Cumbria Thro’ the Lens will feature a wide variety of images of Cumbria – including the architecture and history of our industrial towns and villages, the lakes, coastal scenes, mountains and wildlife.

The photographers range from beginners to those who have awards from the Royal Photographic Society and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.

Cumbria Thro’ The Lens runs from February 5 until March 20.

Both exhibitions are included in The Beacon Museum entry fee. Find out more at the Beacon Museum website www.thebeacon-whitehaven.co.uk or call 01946 592302.
