Beakid is The Beacon Museum’s creative, hands-on monthly activity programme for children of all ages.
Designed to spark curiosity and celebrate imagination, Beakid gives young visitors the chance to explore, build, create and discover through fun, themed workshops and events. Connects children to local heritage and science themes, and provides accessible, fun activities for families.

Recycle
Kick off the new year with the first-ever Beakid workshop!
January’s theme is Recycling and Reuse. Children will explore how everyday waste can be turned into something wonderful, learning about sustainability through creativity and craft.

Chinese New Year
Celebrate Chinese New Year with a special two-part experience the whole family will love!
Kids will start with a 1-hour creative workshop, making colourful crafts inspired by Lunar New Year traditions. Then they’ll enjoy a magical 1-hour animal encounter, meeting real creatures up close and learning fun facts about them.
A perfect mix of culture, creativity and creature fun!

What is the meaning behind Beakid?
Beakid captures the spirit of The Beacon Museum’s children’s programme perfectly — a place where young people can explore, imagine, discover and simply be kids. The name celebrates curiosity, creativity and the joy of hands-on learning, all inspired by the Museum’s roots as a guiding “beacon” of knowledge and light.
