Fans of The Tale of Peter Rabbit are encouraged to hop along to The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven this summer.

They will be able to immerse themselves in the classic Beatrix Potter story at a showcase planned at The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven between Saturday 6 July and Monday 1 September 2024.

The World of Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail is a celebration of Beatrix Potter’s classic children’s book. Children will be able to crawl under the garden gate, hide in a watering can and see their reflection in a mirror pool, just like Peter Rabbit!

With photo opportunities and activities to take part in along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities for families to celebrate Peter Rabbit’s classic tale.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter was first published by Frederick Warne & Co. (now part of Penguin Random House UK) in 1902.

Heather Holmes, Customer and Visitor Experience Manager, The Beacon Museum said:

“For little kids and ‘big kids’ alike this is an unmissable opportunity to celebrate the classic story of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Although it is more than 120 years old, it has an enduring appeal and The World of Peter Rabbit™ Storytime Trail is an event not to be missed.”

Owned and managed by Cumberland Council, The Beacon Museum is open daily 10am – 4.30pm during school holidays. During term time it is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 4.30pm and Sunday, 11am – 4pm. Closed Monday.

Last admission is 45 minutes prior to closing.

Every first Sunday of every month, they hold a ‘quiet hour’ for the first hour of opening (11am – 12pm). During the summer holidays this is held between 10am and 11am (Sunday 3 August and Sunday 1 September).
