Before we say goodbye to I Grew Up 90s exhibition (on 21 June), we wanted to celebrate the decade a little close to home – with a special event dedicated to what like was really like in Whitehaven, and the surrounding areas during the 1990s.

Step back into 90s Whitehaven – discover the nostalgia, stories and culture that made the 90s unforgettable in Whitehaven.

Drawing on photographs from the Whitehaven News archives, the display offers a fascinating snapshot of the town during the decade, capturing familiar streets, events and everyday moments.

Iron Ore Mining

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April 2026 | 10am – 4pm

The Iron Ore Mining industry had a significant impact to our region in the 19th and 20th Century. This pop-up will show some of our photographs of the people, the places and the Mines. Also on show will be some of the minerals and artefacts collected by one of our Volunteers.
